Lane Intermediate 4.0

Welcome back to a new school year! It seems like it was just a few days ago that we had wished the commencing class of 2017 best of luck as they begin to pursue the next chapter of their educational journey!

There have been a number of changes since the school year ended....our administration team here at Lane has grown as we welcome Mrs. Kayzar from Lincoln Middle School as well as Mrs. Skonecki supporting our students as Dean at Lane Intermediate. We've added some amazing staff as well and the energy for learning is about to bust!

We are more than ready for this upcoming year. Our framework for our goals this year remains the same as they did last year, but we have narrowed our focus. For learning our goals are as follows:

IF we cultivate, grow, and communicate a community of learning focused on empowering students in Learner-ship and AGENCY through intentional and purposeful practises guided by the development and application of a learner profile...

(Personal Learning Goals) AND…If Student learning is guided by personal learning goals where students have a strong voice in creating their goals....

  1. Ss set goals with data and specifics in areas they want to grow
  2. Ss communicate goals to peers, teachers, and parents
  3. Ss articulate their personal purpose and impact
  4. Ss celebrate their impact as well as come back around on growth opportunities

(Rapid Cycle Feedback) AND….If Students receive feedback that is timely, descriptive, objective, specific, and connected to their learning goals so that it can be applied...

AND...If Students are engaged through intentional literacy/math experiences throughout the school day then….

(Learner Independence) If Students are given opportunities to make important choices and deal with consequences in ways that build decision-making through the encouragement of curiosity and connectedness to a rapidly changing world...THEN  80% of Lane’s Students will achieve college, career, and community readiness (by 2021).

Here is to a great 2017-2018 school year at Lane Intermediate....don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Yours in learning,

Mr. A
